What this calculator does

This biweekly time card calculator totals two full weeks of work hours, unpaid breaks, overtime and estimated pay. Weekly overtime is calculated separately for each week against the threshold, then the two weeks are combined for an overall total.

Formula

For each week:
Weekly total = sum of daily hours (daily = end − start − break)
  Overtime hours = max(weekly total − threshold, 0) (default 40 per week)
Week pay = (regular hours × wage) + (overtime hours × wage × multiplier)
Biweekly total = Week 1 + Week 2
Overtime is calculated per week, not after combining both weeks.

Worked example

Example (shown in US dollars): In Week 1 you work 46 hours at $18 per hour, with a 40-hour overtime threshold and a 1.5× multiplier. Regular pay is 40 × $18 = $720.00, overtime pay is 6 × $27 = $162.00, and the Week 1 total is $882.00. Week 2 is calculated the same way, then the two weeks are combined for an overall total. Selecting another currency only changes the symbol — no conversion is applied.

How the calculation works

  1. Enter a start time, end time and unpaid break for each day across both weeks. Blank days count as zero hours.
  2. Overtime is calculated separately for each week against the threshold (default 40 hours per week), then the two weeks are combined.
  3. Optionally add an hourly wage and choose a multiplier (1.5×, 2×, or custom) to see regular pay, overtime pay and gross pay.

Common questions

Why is overtime calculated separately for each week?

Most employers apply the overtime threshold to each work week on its own. Calculating overtime per week — rather than only after combining both weeks — matches that common rule. Adjust the threshold and multiplier to match the rules that apply to you.

Does it handle overnight shifts?

Yes. If an end time is earlier than or equal to the start time, the shift is counted as ending on the following day.

Can I change the overtime multiplier?

Yes. Choose 1.5× (time and a half), 2× (double time), or enter a custom multiplier.

Is my data stored?

No. Your calculations are processed in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
