What this calculator does
This time and a half calculator works out your 1.5× overtime hourly rate and estimated overtime pay from your regular wage. Time and a half means 1.5 times a worker’s regular hourly rate.
Formula
Time-and-a-half rate = regular hourly rate × 1.5 Overtime pay = time-and-a-half rate × overtime hours Total gross pay = (regular hours × regular rate) + overtime pay
Worked example
Example (shown in US dollars): A regular hourly wage of $20 gives a time-and-a-half rate of $30 per hour (20 × 1.5). With 5 overtime hours, overtime pay is 5 × $30 = $150.00. If you also enter 40 regular hours, regular pay is 40 × $20 = $800.00 and total gross pay is $950.00. Selecting another currency only changes the symbol — no conversion is applied.
