Frequently Asked Questions

Is WorkHoursHQ free?

Yes. Every calculator is free to use and no account is required.

Do the calculators handle overnight shifts?

Yes. If an end time is earlier than or equal to the start time, the shift is counted as ending on the following day.

What are decimal hours?

Decimal hours express minutes as a fraction of an hour — for example, 7 h 30 min is 7.50 decimal hours. Payroll systems often use this format.

Is the data I enter stored or sent anywhere?

No. Your calculations are processed in your browser. Work times and wages you type are never sent to a server.

Are the results guaranteed to be accurate for payroll?

The math is exact for the values you enter, but results are estimates and not payroll, tax, or legal advice. Pay rules vary, so confirm figures with your employer or payroll provider.
